Try-outs and a little bit of advice, the overview

I am trying to give a tip every week. Unfortunately I wasn't always able to put the tip up. But I am working on it and promise I will get better in it..

September 11th: cuticle cream might do wonders for your nails and cuticles. Use it for both your hand and toe nails, at least twice daily when starting the therapy, and at least once a day when continuing the therapy. You will be happy with the results.

August 22nd: If you live in the US, Beef Jerkey is about the best snack you can treat yourself with. I didn't know about this stuff until 2 weeks ago, but it's good. 0% fat, high protein, 1% carbs. Ideal snack! Con: It's expensive.

August 12th: a natural way to remove dark spots; cut a lemon into 2 halves and gently rub it on your face. Leave the juice to penetrate into your skin for 10-20 minutes. Rinse it with water. Lemon contains natural acids those can exfoliate and lighten your skin.

August 5th: I just found out that coffee is good for one's heart; drinking 4 cups of coffee causes a decrease in the risk of a cardiovascular event. Now knowing this, I also read that caffeine is a good component to wake up ones skin. So for the midweek tiredness I would recommend using a hydrating mask with caffeine in it (green tea or coffee).

July 29th: Vitamin A is one of the most essential vitamins for the skin. A vitamin A rich diet may help maintaining a healthy skin. Good sources of vitamin A through food are pate, most orange colored fruits/vegetables (e.g. carrots, pumpkin, sweat potatoes), kale, parsley, paprika.

July 22nd: Lavender oil is rejuvenating for the skin. Try combining 1 tablespoon of olive oil with 2 drops of lavender oil and apply this before going to bed to the skin (use this amount in two times).

July 15th: humectants are small particles those are able to absorb water. If you have severe dry skin, using products with humectants might help since they can attract and retain water in the skin. Examples of humectants in creams are honey, glycerin, lactic acid and urea. Check out the ingredients list to find out if you are using the correct products for dry skin.

July 9th: Use vitamin E oil for your lips. Apply it every night before going to bed. I promise your lips wont crack from lipstick doesn't matter the brand or quality.

June 25th: Did you know mono and polyunsaturated fats are good energy for the brains? Pure chocolate, nuts, fish are helpful during exam periods, because they contain a lot of mono and polyunsaturated fats.

June 4th: If you feel like you're loosing hair while combing or brushing, or if you have a lot of hair tangles, try using anti-tangle hair cosmetics. They work very well. I would recommend the anti-tangle spray oil from Gliss Kur by Schwarzkopf. It's affordable and good. Also combing your hair while making it wet like in the shower is a good way to detangle it.

May 30th: It's time for waxing! Yes beach time is here... Tips with waxing: practice the technique by starting with your legs. Armpit and bikini line are more sensitive areas and if you repeat waxing over there it might start hurting. Don't repeat waxing an area under your armpit or bikini line more than twice. If you don't manage to get rid of all the hair, try it again after 2-3 days. Don't use deodorant spray/roll-on immediately after waxing. The best time to do it is before bed, when you don't need deo.

May 20th: Egg whites are full of proteins. Eat egg whites for breakfast once every week to give your body a strong protein boost. You can also use egg whites to make facial masks. Use pure egg whites or combine it with honey or lime, or all three.

May 12th: Having trouble suppressing foot odor and sweat? Try using deodorant (for the armpits) for sweaty feet. Spray deodorants are better than roll-ons since they tend to be less sticky than roll-ons.

May 5th: Fresh tomato's are the best additive to your diet. Try eating a lunch consisting of mozzarella , tomato, oregano, basil and a little bit of olive oil (Italians favorite). My favorite tomatoes are cherry tomatoes, I eat them as fruits. Read more about tomato's for health here.

May 2nd: Use foundation as a base for your lipstick. Refine your lip contour by using a lipliner. If you're not wearing lipstick you can still use a lipliner. Add gloss for some shine or powder to make it matte. Summer colours: Orange, pink and purple. Red is so last season :p

April 8th: make a full body mask of plain yoghurt, honey and lavender oil. This body mask is great for the end of the week. The lavender will help to start the weekend in a more relaxing way. While the yoghurt and honey can pep up your skin. Apply the mask especially to the back and neck, and the legs.

April 1st: If you're suffering dandruff, apply tea tree oil to your scalp, add it to your shampoo or hair cosmetics. The oil can fight the micro-organisms those cause dandruff and the menthol taste/scent can calm down itching.

As a tip for trouble skin; I said using creams without preservatives is the best way to go.

It has been shown that preservatives can cause allergic reactions, specifically parabens. I don't know why parabens are actually used in cosmetics, because it has also been shown that parabens don't preserve good enough in cosmetics. It's more for the use in pharmaceutical drinks like cough syrup. More effective preservatives for creams are sorbic acid and benzoic acid.
I also say, wash once a day with soap/emulsifying gel. I say this because soaps/emulsifying gels are known to damage the skin and have ingredients those might cause allergic reactions when one uses this too often. And if you wash or shower too often you remove the protective fat layer, which can make your skin more susceptible for bacteria and fungi. But putting cream after washing the face not only hydrates the skin but adds a new protective layer to the skin as well, until the natural fat layer is restored.
When scrubbing you remove the dead cell layer of the skin. This should be good, because the we don't want dead stuff on the skin... But actually the dead cell layer also protects the skin against bacteria and fungi, and against radiation, smog and UV. So actually a dead cell skin layer is not that bad. On the other hand excessive dead skin cells can stop sebum to come out of the sebaceous gland (clogging them) and it slows down the healing process of the skin. That's why scrubbing twice a week should be enough.
